Itchy Hair Regrowth Tips?

I'm a pretty hairy guy and I've used Nair a few times to clean up on my legs and stuff but after a few days I get an intense burning to the point where I swear off the product for several months. I've looked online and its supposed to make the hair regrowth come in fine and soft but I get stubble that itches like cray. I'm beginning to think that I'm the only person in the world with this problem. I don't have time to shave a few days and I'm not obsessed with complete hairlessness, I just would like something less intense then a hairy forest that doesn't have stubble as a side-effect.
